How to Lease a Standard Dedicated Virtual Mobile Number
- Log in to your SMS Express account and go to Senders
- Choose Add Number and select an available number for your country
- Confirm the monthly cost and enable auto top-up if you'd like
- Click Activate. Your number is ready to receive (and send) messages

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a shared and a dedicated number?
A shared number is free and comes with every SMS Express account, but other businesses may send from it too. A dedicated number is exclusively yours for a monthly fee, so replies, keywords, and conversations are never mixed up with anyone else's traffic.
Can a Callable number make outgoing calls too?
No. A Callable number accepts incoming calls and forwards them to a mobile or landline you nominate. It doesn't let you dial out from that number.
Who can get a Callable number?
Callable numbers are currently available to Australian and US customers only.
What's a Vanity number?
A Vanity number spells out a word using the letters on a phone keypad, for example 61480 CLINIC. It's a dedicated number like any other, just with a more memorable, brandable digit pattern. Contact us for availability and pricing.
What's a Gold number?
A Gold number is a dedicated number with an easy-to-recall digit pattern, offering a cost-efficient middle ground between a Standard number and a fully custom Vanity number. Contact us for availability and pricing.
Can I run SMS competitions and keywords on any dedicated number?
Yes. Standard, Callable, Vanity, and Gold numbers all support keyword automation, so you can run competitions, auto-replies, and forward responses regardless of which type you choose.
Can I send MMS from my dedicated number?
MMS is only available on dedicated virtual mobile numbers, not on our free shared number. Chat to us before you launch an MMS campaign so we can confirm your specific dedicated number supports it. See our MMS Multimedia Messaging page for full pricing and details.
Do I need help setting this up?
Not for a Standard dedicated number, you can enable that yourself from the Senders section of your account. Callable, Vanity, and Gold numbers need to be provisioned for you, so get in touch and we'll take care of it.
